25 ways

25 ways to LOVE the City of Fullerton…

  1. Mentor a student—elementary, junior high, high school or college!
  2. Volunteer in a classroom.
  3. Share your skills in an after school program. Do you dance, sing, sew? Offer an enrichment workshop to students.
  4. Volunteer as a coach on a sports team in one of our many leagues.
  5. Collect basic necessities to share with our homeless population: cosmetics, socks, underwear, blankets, pants, jackets. Make it simple-choose one type of item to collect: advertise, collect and deliver!
  6. Plan a cleanup day in your neighborhood.
  7. Offer to do yard work for a senior citizen.
  8. Donate art supplies to the Foreign  Language Department at Fullerton High School.
  9. Donate the fruit from your trees to the Fullerton Interfaith Emergency Services Food Distribution Center.
  10. Support a High School Sports Team. The students have to pay fees to play. They must buy their own uniforms. Attend their fundraisers! Car washes! Bake sales!
  11. Sponsor a student for a Speech and Debate Tournament—Nicolas Junior High or Fullerton High School.
  12. Speak about your career in a classroom.
  13. Attend community meetings and give your opinion on development, programs, and budgets.
  14. Join a non-profit that you believe in. Help to fulfill their mission.
  15. Do you have grant writing skills? Offer your skills to a school or non-profit and help them obtain funding for their special programs.
  16. Go to a park and start a “pick up game”—any sport—invite everyone to play. Do it every weekend and it will become a neighborhood building activity!
  17. Become trained as a Community Emergency Response Team member. (CERT) Be the person in your neighborhood that knows what to do in time of disaster.
  18. Become trained as a “10 Commandments of Education for Parents” trainer-Help parents learn more about helping their kids succeed in school and go to college!
  19. Organize a potluck with your neighbors. Get to know who lives in your neighborhood!
  20. Attend fundraisers for the various non-profits. Support what they do to make our community a better place to live!
  21. Spend your dollars in Fullerton. “Shop Fullerton First!”
  22. Shop in the small, individually owned stores first!
  23. Take your family to Downtown Fullerton for dinner or a treat as often as possible.
  24. Take the time to ride your bike or walk the next time you go out. You will see our city in a different light!
  25. Pay attention! Keep an eye on decisions by our City Council and School Boards. The people elected to these positions appreciate your input!

This is something that can be done all year round. Although involvement during the holiday season is always appreciated–year round involvement is key to a well rounded community!

Thank you for caring!
